Spool Drawing creation in Revit

Yes, Spool Drawing can be created by Revit

There was a time when you need to use Autodesk Fabrication Software for creating spool drawing. That time is over. Now if you have a Revit model & you want to create Spool Drawing from that model them it is also easily possible. For creating spool drawing from Revit Software you need to follow the following steps:

Creating Item No tags for Pipe & Pipe Fitting & Accessories:
In spool drawing we need to numbering every items & providing a Bill of Material of the items in a spool sheet. Into the bill of material we need to provide the details information of every item with their item no.
We can't add anything into the schedule until it is a share parameter so we need to create a share parameter for Piece No.

After that we need to create a Pipe tag & an Pipe Fitting tag for showing the no value in spool value. For creating Pipe & Pipe Fitting tag we use the share parameter as a label text.

Creating Pipe & Pipe Fitting Schedule:

Creating a Pipe & Pipe schedule is the most critical part of Spooling in Revit. At Field for Pipe schedule we need to take Piece No, Assembly Name, Count, Size, Length & Description. We can take other parameter also as per requirement. Same as for creating Pipe Fitting Schedule Piece No, Assembly Name, Count & Size this parameters are same other parameter you can add as per requirement.
After selecting field we need to filter the schedule by Assembly Name. It is same for both Pipe & Pipe Fitting schedule, also if you need to make any Pipe accessories schedule then also it is same.
Next part of schedule is shorting/grouping. User can make it as per requirement.
At Appearance only Assembly Name keep Hidden Field & the other things can keep same. Your schedule is complete.

Creating Filter for Spool Map:

For Spool Drawing the first things which we need a coloring Spool Map. At Revit we need to create some filter for to define different spool.
We can keep the spool filter name Spool01, Spool02, Spool03 like that.
Within the every filter at category we only select Assembly. At filter rule we create assembly code end with 01 for Spool01,02 for Spool02, 03 for Spool03 & so on.
We need to put color at every filter but try to avoid Yellow color.

Creating Assembly:

Next part is creation assembly. For creating assembly just select the part of the pipe at which you want to take in single spool, go to modify tag & select Assembly. Put assembly name which is spool name.

After creating assembly right click on the assembly & select Assembly View, select assembly views which you want & select the sheet for your spool sheet and click OK. Your Assembly is created. Go to the pipe & pipe fitting schedule, filter it as assembly name, your schedule for that particular assembly is created. Now you have to put number against each Pipe, Pipe Fitting & Pipe Accessories for that you need to convert Piece No Share Parameter into Project Parameter. Now put number against each part of spool, drag all assembly view & schedule into assembly sheet tag each part of spool. You Spool Drawing is created.
