Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a 3D model based process which gives Architecture, Engineering Construction professional an insight tool to more efficiently Design, Plan & Manage their Construction Project. In one word we can say Building Information Modeling is process of generating Digital Data for a construction work. Although if I say that BIM is only a 3D model based process then I'm not fully correct. BIM has another three dimension, Time(4D), Cost(5), As Built Operation(6D).

In modern world population is going to increase rapidly. This rapidly increasing population is now turn into a challenge for AEC professionals. Now they would have to create more buildings more infrastructures, hospitals, industries and other public facilities with more capacity than previous with a short of time span.
BIM comes as an answer of all of this problems.By applying AEC Professional can easily identify the problems much earlier and also he can find the possible solution of this problems. They can design their project based on their requirement. They can estimate their total cost more accurately. It reduce wastage of construction material and as well as manpower. Also as a bonus all of this can be done at less time. So if we aggregate all of the factor then we can say that by applying BIM the overall efficiency of a Construction Project is increase.
As a AEC professional I can say that beside time & cost savings BIM also give us another tool which is as built operation. As built operation is come in action after the total construction is over. When the whole construction is open & ready to use at that time if need to make any changes or during maintenance work if we need any engineering data regarding the construction then it is also provided by BIM through as built.
How BIM help us before and after construction
Before the actual construction work designer collect all the data regarding the construction like
- Type of Construction
- Geographical location of the construction
- Total area of construction
- Weather condition at the area of construction
- Requirement of client
- Total budget of client

Future of BIM in India
When it comes to applying BIM in AEC industries in India then we can say that doing late is far better than doing never. In USA, EU, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Australia it is compulsory to applying BIM but till Indian Construction Industry still don't applying BIM on that scale. In recent time so many Private & Government sector of India are trying to understand and implement BIM on their project. Two biggest example of this Nagpur Metro & Delhi International Airport. This industries has a very long road to go in this country. India has so many private firm which provide BIM service to the other country but still very few Engineering College & University include this part of engineering into their syllabus. So it could be very good if we can spread this technology from grass root level then a large sector of employment also can be open and the technology can reduce the construction cost & time at this country.
If you are form the other country then kindly let me know that how you that is your county is applying this technology or not and if yes then where & how. If you are from India then kindly let me know about you thought about BIM into the comment section.
